Carrots, tomatoes, onions, avocado, spinach, mint leaves, whole grain wheat, and water – all products are necessary for a healthy diet, as are many other foods. Normally when we think of eating healthy, we only think of foods that we chew on and swallow. But, eating healthy should mean the things we put in our bodies that are good for us. This would mean drinking water, exercising (though we do not put it in our body, it is for our body), eating, and sleeping habits.
Our body is similar to a car – it must be maintained properly for efficient and long-lasting use. Without fuel the car cannot run. Our bodies are the same. If we are to be healthy, we must diet properly meaning to drink around two liters of water every day to function at our optimal best.
Exercising is similar to test-driving a car. We need to understand how the car functions; same with our body. We need to exercise to understand what is extra strenuous and what is efficient for our bodies in order to understand our limits.
Eating habits for people is similar to oil changes and tune-ups for cars. A car needs to be well maintained, which is what food does for people. Food is our energy source that allows us to withstand the daily rigors of life just as the car needs its oil changes and tune-ups to continue to run. We need to understand that healthy eating habits will lead to a stronger and longer life expectancy.
Lastly, sleep. This is the same for a car – it can run all day long, but like the driver, it needs time to rest and recover. Without proper sleeping habits we will always feel drowsy and perform at a level below our best. Same with a car, the more it runs, the more it eventually needs rest, especially older cars.
